Zurich University of Applied Science (ZHAW)

With just over 10,000 students, 26 bachelor degree programs and 10 consecutive Master’s programs, the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) is the largest multidisciplinary university of applied sciences in Switzerland. Participation in the project will be led by the Institute of Applied Information Technology (InIT) which is focused on the study of distributed information systems that actively gather, process, and enrich information, and distribute the results in an appropriate manner.

The ICCLab in InIT currently employs approximately 20 people – a mix of academic staff, research engineers and research students. The lab has significant experience with cloud stacks – OpenStack in particular – and makes code contributions as well as delivering service to research groups internally via its own infrastructure. The lab is influential in the EU research space, being involved in numerous projects. It also has bilateral engagements with local industry and is currently advising the Swiss Federal Government on its Cloud Computing strategy.
